The Sonoma County Superior Court is closed to the public effective immediately and will only hear urgent and emergency matters as follows:

  • In-custody matters and matters, where time “is not waived,” both felonies and misdemeanors.
  • Family law domestic violence ex parte review, civil harassment ex parte review, foreclosure injunction review, and unlawful detainer ex parte review.

The court highly recommended e-Filing for all Civil and Family law filings for the hearings noted above. If not e-Filed, filers must deposit all required documents in the drop-box located at the Hall of Justice, 600 Administration Drive, Room 107J, by 8:30 a.m. Documents will be returned by e-mail no later than 2:30 pm.

Further note that:

  • All other Civil and Family Law matters are continued for 60 days, except family law Domestic Violence, which is governed by statute.
  • All other Criminal matters are continued for 30 days.
  • All collaborative courts will not be hearing matters, including FACT, until further notice.
  • All Family Law Facilitator and Child Custody Recommending Counselor appointments are canceled and will be rescheduled.

The court will be issuing further orders providing continued hearing dates and instructions on those matters that are not being heard.

The court closure days are considered judicial holidays for purposes of filing deadlines and other time calculations.

For additional updates during the closure, please visit the Sonoma County Superior Court website at and on our social media platforms.
